Plexi-lid Restoration

- Cick on pictures to supersize.

Restoration of Plexi-lids / covers.

Restoring Plexi-lids is a labor intesive but at the same time very delicate work which requires at least 1.5 up to 5 hours or more of work. Extreme caution has to be excercised because it's VERY easy to permanently damage or deform a plexi-lid.

In many cases the lids will come out nearly as new.

I machine-wet sand and machine-polish the lids with special rubbing compounds in several stages and then machine-wax it to get that shiny end finish.

I can also repair cracked/broken lids in many cases. I will cover the area where the cracks are with vinyl, black for example. Works best when the cracks are located in the back or sides of the lid.

The picture shows my KD-650 with a lid that I have restored and polished - supersize it.

Use the the Contact page and e-mail me for further inquiry.

This is a severely damaged and scratched plexilid BEFORE I started the restauration process. Note the big white spots/areas where the plexiglass is not even transparent where it has had a reaction possibly wiith some kind of solvent.

This is the same plexilid AFTER I restored it. It had to be completely machine wet-sanded and then machine polished and buffed in several stages. This lid required about 4.5 hours of work, but most plexilids require about half that time or less.
